Ode to Luna

You were a pretty dog,
smooth, soft and black,
and for going potty outside
you soon caught the knack.

Nathaniel and Abby
loved to rub your fur.
Ben installed, just for you,
a snazzy dog door.

As we walked to the park
this image burned in my mind
Nathaniel riding his bike
with you chasing behind.

Though the messes and chewing
caused us much strife
it was wonderful to have
you in our life.

(Luna was struck by a car and killed on Thanksgiving weekend while we were out of town.)

Goblin Valley

We were joined by several friends in October for a weekend trip to Goblin Valley in Utah--the weather was fabulous and the kids loved playing with each other and in the dirt. Here are some pics from our longer-and-more-strenuous-than-billed hike:

Blogworld, meet Luna.

She is our (I mean Nathaniel's) sweet, warm, wiggly, not-quite-potty trained, somewhat-impulsively adopted new puppy dog. She is a black lab/shar pei mix. We got her at 9 weeks of age.

Our family of 4 (+1) on the hill above Granny's house.

Nathaniel enjoys reading her bedtime stories.
